Job description
About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Asset Performance Technician to join our team in Cornwall on a full‑time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will monitor the performance of Drinking Water Services assets through regular data collection, assessment and analysis, assist in the design and delivery of planned maintenance programmes and capital improvements across the DWS Network asset base, and promote improvements to ensure a reliable water supply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to the Network Asset Manager and liaise with the Asset Management Team, Central Supply Team and third‑party suppliers to develop a programme of work to deliver the company’s strategic revenue and capital maintenance programmes.
  • Plan and organise all resources in the operational area, including coordination of working methods, resources and systems to meet outcome requirements.
  • Complete complex RAMS documents for network activities including trunk main repairs, installations and SR cleaning.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with the New Roads and Streetworks Act, Traffic Management Act and the transition to Permits in the region.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders (Developers, Alliance Partners, the Environment Agency, DWI, Highway Authorities, local councils, community groups, businesses and customer groups) to ensure work is carried out with minimum impact.
  • Provide key support to the Drinking Water Services function in the event of emergencies and participate in DWS Network standby duties.
  • Maintain the highest health and safety standards, applying the company’s Homesafe principles to all activities.
Qualifications
  • 5 GCSEs at grades A‑C or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject.
  • Relevant experience in water distribution operations and management.
  • Technical understanding of water network operations and hydraulics within water distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of computer systems such as MS Office, corporate systems and external portals.
  • Surveying skills to assess street work requirements and asset improvements; mapping and plan‑reading skills.
  • Full UK driver’s licence.
  • Ability to achieve IOSH/NEBOSH Health & Safety Qualifications (or ability to obtain).
