Job description

What You Will Do

Support the maintenance fault‑finding and safe operation of bespoke test equipment critical to aerospace product testing. The role will assist experienced engineers in maintaining a wide range of specialist electronic and electrical test rigs helping to ensure equipment uptime during the absence of a key team member.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Support basic fault‑finding and assist in the repair of test rigs under supervision.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance tasks as per the schedule.
• Assist with equipment containing:
• Electronic switching and signal routing components
• Custom electrical harnesses and connectors
• Power supplies meters and control systems
• Environmental and vibration test systems
• Complete documentation for work carried out in accordance with site procedures.

Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area.

Work alongside engineers and other technicians to develop skills and contribute to team effectiveness.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Hands‑on experience with electrical / electronic equipment in an industrial or technical environment.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles and safety.
• Comfortable using hand tools, multimeters and basic diagnostic equipment.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior engineers.
• Ability to read simple wiring diagrams and follow procedures.
• Good attitude toward safety, quality and teamwork.

Desirable

• Experience in a manufacturing or test environment.
• Familiarity with electrical connectors, sensors or measurement systems.
• Exposure to software‑controlled systems or test equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum : ONC / Level 3 Diploma / relevant apprenticeship in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent hands‑on experience.

Desirable : HNC / HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
