Assessor - Electrical Installations

We are seeking a competent and motivated Electrical Installations Assessor to join our college. The successful candidate will manage and support a caseload of apprentices, guiding them through their NVQ qualification, portfolio development, and End Point Assessment, while maintaining strong employer relationships and high standards of quality and compliance.

About the Role
  • Manage a caseload of Electrical Installation apprentices, supporting them through their NVQ qualification and portfolio development.
  • Conduct workplace assessments and deliver classroom‑based support where required, monitoring, reviewing, and recording apprentice progress in line with awarding body and college requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with employers to support apprentice development and help progress full‑time learners into apprenticeships.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date documentation and records, working closely with Apprentice Coaches and curriculum teams to ensure timely achievement and completion of qualifications.
  • Keep up to date with current industry standards, awarding body requirements, and Health & Safety legislation, continually developing personal professional expertise and contributing to business development initiatives where appropriate.
  • Prepare and guide apprentices through End Point Assessment (EPA), ensuring they are fully ready and confident to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a collaborative mindset, working effectively as part of a wider team to support learner success.
  • Adhere to and actively promote the College's policies and practices, including Safeguarding, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, College Values, and Health & Safety.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties associated with the role, as determined by the College.
Essential Requirements
  • Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in a relevant subject area or equivalent 2391 qualification in testing and inspection.
  • Level 3 NVQ in electrical installation (AM2 / AM2s).
  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics – GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O‑Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent.
  • Assessor/Verifier Awards desirable.
Essential Experience
  • Substantial, relevant industry experience.
  • An Assessor and/or IQA qualification (desirable).
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use or ability to travel to locations covering Cambridgeshire and neighbouring counties.
  • Confidence using IT systems and digital tools.
