A local educational agency in Midhurst is seeking an Aspiring Educational Psychologist for a role as a Learning Support Assistant. This position offers hands-on experience with students aged 4-11 who have special educational needs, focusing on social and emotional development. The ideal candidate will have experience or a keen interest in SEN, and will assist students both academically and pastorally. Applicants must complete background safety checks.

Qualifications

Job Title: Aspiring Educational Psychologist - Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant

Location: Midhurst

Contract Type: Long Term Contract, 5 days a week, 8:30 - 15:30

This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with previous SEN experience OR a Graduate with a keen interest in this area of work. It is the perfect position for someone in search of hands-on experience working with social, emotional mental health needs.

The SEN LSA opportunity in Midhurst is focused on raising attainment with children aged 4-11. As a LSA, you will be working in classes of 5-8 students, with a staff to student ratio of 1:1 for some students.

Great experience for an Aspiring Educational Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist, and gives you excellent grounding across several areas in social, advocacy, mental health, and special educational needs. This school offers restorative, therapeutic approaches to education and behaviour management. Please be advised that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting students academically and pastorally
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
  • Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs
  • Attend staff meetings and complete CPD
  • Follow safeguarding procedures
  • Able to commute to Midhurst
  • Participate in team meetings and training programmes as an active member of a team
  • Ensure accurate individual student records are maintained
Qualifications & Requirements
  • An Undergraduate Degree (preferable) and/or previous SEN experience, ideal for Psychology Graduates/Aspiring Educational Psychologist
  • Education in English and Maths, Grade 5 / C and above (desired)
  • Knowledge, keen interest or understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs (SEMH, PRU, Cognitive Behaviours)
  • Must satisfy background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service
