Job summary

A leading environmental consultancy in England is seeking an Asbestos Laboratory Technician to manage and deliver the workflow of asbestos sample preparation and analysis. Ideal candidates will have experience or knowledge of using microscopes, particularly Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM), and a qualification in a science discipline. The role includes laboratory duties focused on quality standards, data entry, and report writing, with training available for those without prior laboratory experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience or knowledge of working with microscopes or SEM is essential.
  • Ideally, experience of working in a UKAS accredited laboratory but training can be provided.

Asbestos Laboratory technician

Are you looking to begin a career in the Environmental Science industry? Are you a graduate with a science-based degree?

You will support the business in delivering services to clients, your principal role will manage and delivery the workflow of Asbestos samples for preparation, analysis via Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with reporting and assisting in the weekly running of the laboratory.

Summary of duties to include but not limited to:

  • laboratory focused duties, including preparation and analysis of samples in adherence to strict analytical and quality standards.
  • Set up and Perform analysis using microscopes or SEM
  • Data entry of all results collected from analysis carried out.
  • Formulating and writing asbestos analysis reports
  • Responsible for the efficiency and output of the laboratory
  • Laboratory housekeeping cleaning and maintaining stock levels
Requirements
  • Experience / knowledge of working with microscopes or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), is essential.
