Job Title: Art & Design Teacher (SEN)

Location: Lichfield

Salary: £140.25 - £220.15

Contract: Full-Time

Start Date: 26th January 2026

Working Hours:

  • Monday Thursday: 08 35

  • Friday: 08 45

Smart Education is recruiting a creative and compassionate Art & Design Teacher for a full-time position within a special needs school in Lichfield. This role begins immediately and requires commitment to a full teaching timetable.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and prepare Art & Design lessons tailored for SEN learners

  • Teach both theory and practical sessions (drawing, painting, photography)

  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils with MLD

  • Mark work, assess progress, and provide constructive feedback

  • Support learners during practical activities and ensure safety

  • Work closely with the Head of Department, staff, and parents/carers

  • Manage behaviour effectively using school policies

  • Create an engaging, supportive, and sensory-aware learning environment

Requirements
  • UK QTS

  • Experience teaching Art & Design at KS3 and KS4 at GCSE level

  • Previous experience working in SEN settings

  • Ability to deliver both theory and practical sessions confidently

  • Strong organisational, classroom management, and communication skills
