A local educational institution in Ferndown is seeking an Art & Design Technician to provide essential support to teaching staff in their vibrant Art and Textiles department. The successful candidate will assist with practical lessons, maintain equipment, and prepare resources for exhibitions. An appreciation of art and design, enthusiasm, and excellent organizational skills are essential. This role is part-time, term-time only, based in a thriving school environment offering opportunities for training and personal development.
Dorset Grade 5, SCP 5-6 – £13.26‑£13.47 per hour
£5,820 – £5,912 actual salary pro‑rated
10 hours per week (over 2 days)
Term time only 38 weeks per year
Required to start as soon as possible.
A technician is required to join our friendly team and to provide support to teaching staff in our thriving Art and Textiles department, which this year achieved the top student progress score in the school.
Our students include four A Level classes and nine GCSE classes – as well as BTEC Diploma Level 4 Foundation Art students – who study Fine Art and Textiles exploring a diverse range of two‑dimensional traditional drawing and painting, three‑dimensional sculptural clay and mixed media, print, textile surface pattern, print, costume and fashion genres, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, laser cutting.
The successful candidate will: set up and prepare resources for lessons, support teachers and students in practical lessons, order stock, maintain classroom and studio equipment, prepare work for exhibitions, assist with printing and mounting students’ work for moderation, display and summer exhibitions, and ensure health and safety measures are in place in the classrooms and studio.
