Job description
Responsibilities
  • Preparing Materials & Equipment - Ensuring all materials, tools, and equipment are ready for lessons, including paints, clay, textiles, and woodworking tools.
  • Maintaining & Organising Resources - Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring the safe storage of materials such as paints, glazes, and resistant materials.
  • Health & Safety Compliance - Ensuring that all safety procedures are followed, maintaining risk assessments, and checking that equipment is safe for use.
  • Supporting Teachers in Lessons - Assisting teachers with lesson preparation, setting up demonstrations, and occasionally supporting students with practical tasks.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repairs - Maintaining and repairing tools and machinery such as kilns, sewing machines, laser cutters, and woodworking machinery.
  • Managing Student Work - Helping to display, store, or mount student artwork for exhibitions and assessments.
  • Assisting with IT & Digital Resources - Supporting the use of software such as Adobe Photoshop, CAD programmes, or digital cutting machines where applicable.
  • Supporting Extra-Curricular Activities - Helping with after-school clubs, trips, competitions, or exhibitions related to art and design technology.
  • Organising & Managing Workspaces - Keeping classrooms, workshops, and studios tidy, ensuring efficient workspace organisation.
  • Demonstrating Techniques - Occasionally demonstrating specialist techniques such as printmaking, ceramics, or woodwork.
Safeguarding
  • To ensure that all students have a safe environment in which they can learn, reporting any concern about the environment to a member of the site team or if appropriate to one of the Designated Safeguarding Leaders
  • To be aware of systems which support safeguarding and following the procedures as highlighted in the Safeguarding Policy
  • To identify students who may benefit from early help as soon as possible and discuss this with one of the Designated Safeguarding Leaders
  • To consider at all times what is in the best interests of the child
  • To protect students from maltreatment; preventing impairment of student's health or development; ensuring that students grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • To take action to enable all students to have the best outcomes
