Job description

Are you passionate about caring for trees and creating greener, safer neighbourhoods? We’re looking for someone to join our team as an Arboriculture Officer (Tree Inspector), helping us manage and protect Flagship Group’s extensive tree stock. Your work will play a vital role in safeguarding residents, strengthening communities, and stewarding healthy urban forests—across more than 40,000 trees

Location: Cambridge, Huntingdon and surrounding areas

As this is a mobile position you will be provided with a company vehicle.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Act as a responsive Tree Inspector, handling tree-related enquiries and carrying out inspections that keep people and property safe.
  • Inspect and manage Flagship Group’s tree stock, working closely with the Arboriculture Services Manager, Lead Arborists, and coordinators to plan and schedule works.
  • Advise colleagues on BS 5837, Arboriculture Impact Assessments (AIA), and the long‑term management of our tree stock (c. 40,000 trees).
  • Investigate and provide advice on tree‑related subsidence cases, balancing risk, safety, and practical solutions.
  • Respond to enquiries via email and face‑to‑face, raise work schedules, and maintain accurate records to ensure timely, compliant delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote best‑practice urban forestry, species selection, planting, and aftercare.
  • Manage your own time to maximise efficiency and maintain clear communications during remote and lone working.

This is a rewarding opportunity to improve local environments, reduce risk, and make our communities greener and more resilient.

What We're Looking For:
  • Arboriculture experience and Professional Tree Inspector (PTI or equivalent) qualification.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and associated applications (across a variety of devices).
  • Knowledge of BS 5837 and AIA reporting (experience producing reports is beneficial but not essential).
  • Understanding of trees in relation to subsidence and practical risk management.
  • Awareness of key legislation and best practice in species selection, planting, and aftercare, with working knowledge of BS 8545.
  • Organised and professional, with experience in a customer‑focused environment and the ability to de‑escalate challenging conversations.
