Salary
  • £16,685.50 per year (Apprentice Minimum Wage)
  • Pay may be reviewed and increased following successful completion of a probation period.
Hours
  • 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks each day

Job Summary

Kick-start your career with Pulse Hire Ltd as an Apprentice Hire Desk Controller. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced hire desk environment while completing a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, developing valuable skills with clear progression opportunities into a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the Hire Desk team, you will:

  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers via phone and email.
  • Work closely with the Sales team to ensure customer orders are processed correctly.
  • Communicate order updates, issues, and developments to the wider team.
  • Communicate with suppliers when placing orders.
  • Support the purchasing and sourcing of hire equipment.
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately, including:
    • Raising, chasing, and closing breakdowns.
    • Processing off-hires.
    • Raising and managing damages.
  • Maintain accurate records across internal systems.
  • Learn product knowledge and industry standards.

You will gain hands‑on experience while being supported by experienced colleagues.

Training & Development

You will complete a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship, delivered by Total Training Provision Limited.

Your training will include:

  • At least 20% off‑the‑job training during working hours.
  • Online learning and self‑study modules.
  • One‑to‑one support from a dedicated Skills Coach.
  • Projects and practical activities.
  • Regular progress reviews.
  • Structured training in customer experience, communication, teamwork, and handling challenges.
  • Support to achieve English and maths qualifications if required.

The apprenticeship is completed through a final assessment, including a practical observation and professional discussion.
