Qualifications

• Knowledge of Java would be advantageous.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL or SQL Server.
• Familiarity with VMware or Proxmox is beneficial.
• Knowledge of automation and containerisation tools (Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, SVN, Terraform) is advantageous.
• Scripting experience with Bash or Python is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence in customer-facing situations.
• A proactive, organized, and team-oriented approach is essential.
• Full UK driving licence is desirable.
• Eligibility to obtain UK Government Security Clearance is required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and supporting bespoke software solutions and Linux-based infrastructure, while working closely with customers and developers to deliver high-quality support.

The Role

As an Application Support Engineer, you will:

• Maintain and support bespoke software applications.
• Manage and improve build and release processes.
• Keep infrastructure patched, secure, and up to date.
• Release and patch software in a timely and controlled manner.
• Liaise directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with developers and technical teams to find and implement solutions.
• Travel across the UK when required.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for candidates with:

• Knowledge of Java - advantageous.
• Experience with databases (MySQL / SQL Server).
• Familiarity with VMware / Proxmox - beneficial.
