Job description

Analysts and Medical Writers work on projects involving detailed analysis of data from clinical trials and the creation of materials that present this analysis in various formats. Deliverables include posters, slide sets, value dossiers, reports and peer‑reviewed publications used by clients in communications with external stakeholders, contributing to the uptake of novel therapies. The work is project‑based and you will typically manage multiple projects across different disease areas. You will work in project teams with experienced colleagues who provide one‑to‑one training in technical aspects of the role, including project management and effective client communication. Delivering project work requires close collaboration with clients, and after a successful induction you will increasingly participate in teleconferences and face‑to‑face meetings with external stakeholders.

Costello Medical is structured into teams focusing on medical communications, health economics services or a specific healthcare sector. You may indicate an interest in joining a specific team in your application. On joining, you will be assigned a "home" team based on your interests, skills and current business needs. Where possible, analysts and medical writers work cross‑divisionally with at least one additional team to develop a broad understanding of the company’s services and clients.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed analysis of clinical trial data and create materials for different audiences in various formats
  • Collaborate with clients, including participating in teleconferences and face‑to‑face meetings with external stakeholders
  • Support project management and client communication alongside experienced colleagues
  • Work on several projects in different disease areas at any one time
  • Engage with different teams within the company to develop a broad understanding of service offerings and clients
Working arrangements

Hybrid Working Policy: flexible arrangements allow homeworking up to half of the time after probation. During probation (normally the first 6 months) you may work from home for up to 1 day per week. The company recognises benefits from in‑office time for community and collaboration.

Skills, experience and qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1 or equivalent). Postgraduate qualifications (minimum 2.1 or equivalent) are advantageous but not required. Applications are welcomed from diverse specialisms including biology, chemistry, pharmacy and medicine.
  • Aptitude for planning and writing scientific documents (e.g., lab reports, dissertations, posters, presentations, peer‑reviewed publications, grant applications, regulatory documents)
  • Self‑motivated, enthusiastic with a genuine interest in healthcare and a willingness to learn
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and excellent organisational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively
  • Exceptional written and verbal English; ability to tailor communication for healthcare professionals, patient groups, suppliers, clients, non‑scientific colleagues and governmental bodies
  • Proactive, with the ability to identify challenges and suggest solutions with limited guidance
  • Collaborative approach to working, sharing knowledge to achieve common objectives
  • Self‑awareness to reflect on work and performance, with willingness to take ownership and develop your career
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider team
  • Commitment to Costello Medical’s values: delivering quality work, championing innovation in healthcare, acting with integrity and supporting colleagues
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
