Job description

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and passionate Ambulance Care Assistants to transport our patients, who are frail or need specialist assistance, to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres and other similar facilities.

If you have experience of caring for people with proven customer care and communication skills with the public, then we would like to hear from you!

You will need to be flexible, adaptable, and at times, discreet. A good sense of humour and local knowledge of the area you are applying to work in will also be an advantage.

Every day is different as an ACA and you could really make a difference to our patients.

Please note this is a 0 hours Casual Worker contract.

Role Overview

The role of the Ambulance Care Assistant involves the transportation of non-urgent patients to and from health/social care premises and private residences. This is a responsible role which requires a professional and caring attitude, as well as teamwork.

You will work in a team of two, or on your own, undertaking duties in a variety of vehicle types.

Requirements
  • A full UK manual car driving licence, with one year driving experience.
  • Maximum of 3 penalty points will be considered for a minor motoring offence only.
  • You must be able to commute to training venues (usually Welwyn Garden City & Barton Mills) as accommodation and travel expenses will not be provided.
  • You must be able to commit to undertaking the 3‑week paid training course (Monday–Friday) as outlined above.
Training

Your role with EEAST PTS would start with a 3 week paid training course (Monday – Friday). The training involves clinical training to be a ‘First Person on Scene’, patient transport driver training, and a full uniform is provided.

During the training course it is your responsibility to attend in full, on each day.
