A leading healthcare provider in Coventry is seeking an Alcohol Care Lead Nurse to develop and manage the Alcohol Care Team, providing expert care for patients with alcohol-related health issues. This role involves collaboration with clinical teams and significant influence on national policy related to alcohol misuse. The successful candidate will have substantial nursing experience and leadership skills, and will be expected to drive educational initiatives and partnerships across the Trust.
To develop and maintain the Alcohol Care Team (ACT) within the UHCW trust. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist nursing service provision for patients with alcohol-related health issues and their families. Recognising NICE guidance compliant specialist protocols for the management of alcohol-related ill health.
The Alcohol Care Lead Nurse is responsible for the management of the UHCW Alcohol Care Team (ACT), supporting the 4 band 6 senior alcohol specialist nurses in further developing and promoting the ACT within the Trust. They will work closely with the clinical teams throughout the trust to provide expert advice on the management of alcohol withdrawal and alcohol related addiction issues.
The ACT Lead Nurse will be a professional role model advancing evidence based clinical practice in the speciality of alcohol misuse. They will evidence the effectiveness of the ACT and will work with the clinical toxicologists and clinicians to publish outcomes.
The Lead Nurse raises the profile of the UHCW ACT to a national level and work with regional leads including alcohol programme managers in Public Health England. They will participate in national alcohol working party groups, influencing national policy and present at regional and national conferences (i.e. BSG) and webinars.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Working with the Drug and Alcohol Steering Group they will act as a regional expert advisor on ACTs, advising and supporting other clinical settings including GP surgeries and the Alcohol Care Team Innovation and Optimisation Network (ACTION).
