Aircraft Fitter

Location: Near Uxbridge, West London

Salary: £35,593 + overtime (5+ hours per week available)

Syntech Recruitment is working on a retained basis for a UK aerospace and defence manufacturer, renowned for producing high‑precision components. This is an excellent opportunity to join a clean, modern manufacturing facility offering long‑term stability and development.

We are recruiting an Aircraft Fitter to support the build of sheet metal structures, kits, and sub‑assemblies, where riveting quality, process control and inspection discipline are critical.

This role is suited to an aircraft or structures fitter who understands riveting as a primary assembly process and is comfortable working to drawings, build instructions and quality standards in a production environment.

Aircraft Fitter Duties
  • Assemble sheet metal and structural sub‑assemblies to engineering specifications
  • Carry out riveting operations
  • Work accurately from engineering drawings and build instructions
  • Use jigs, fixtures and hand tools to achieve consistent builds
  • Perform self‑inspection using measuring equipment and Go/No‑Go gauges
  • Identify and record defects or non‑conformances
  • Log build and inspection data using SAP
  • Work to production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Support 5S, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities
Aircraft Fitter Profile
  • Strong understanding of riveting as an assembly process
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one of: hand rivet gun, press/squeeze riveting, hammer and rivet pin methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Comfortable using hand tools and basic inspection equipment
  • Awareness of quality, safety and controlled build environments
  • IT‑literate and able to follow documented processes
