Airbnb Handyperson / Maintenance Technician

The employer is: GIANT HOMES CAUSEWAY COAST. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Handyperson/Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of our Airbnb properties. This role is essential to ensuring guests enjoy a safe, comfortable, and well‑maintained stay. The ideal candidate is responsive, practical, and able to troubleshoot issues quickly.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs across the property.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requests between guest stays or during stays (as agreed).
  • Handle basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and minor appliance repairs.
  • Assemble, fix, or replace furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify potential issues early.
  • Ensure outdoor areas, patios, gardens, and pathways are safe, tidy and clean.
  • Manage and maintain tools, supplies, and materials.
  • Coordinate with hosts or property managers regarding larger repairs.
  • Keep clear records of completed work, materials used, and time spent.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, or tradesperson.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair.
  • Time‑management skills – prioritise tasks, handle quick turnarounds, and respond promptly to urgent issues.
  • Reliability and responsiveness – dependable, on time, and available for occasional short‑notice call‑outs.
  • Attention to detail – ensure repairs are completed safely and to a professional standard.
  • Excellent communication – provide clear updates with property owners, managers, or cleaners.
  • Safety awareness – understand proper tool handling, safety procedures, and risk assessment.
  • Physical ability – comfortable lifting, carrying, and handling tools or materials needed for repairs.
  • Organisational skills – keep tools, supplies, and repair records neat and accessible.
  • Customer awareness – professionalism when interacting with guests or entering a property with active bookings.
  • Ability to work independently – confident managing repairs without supervision and making informed decisions.
  • Access to reliable transportation and availability for short‑notice call‑outs.
  • Experience working with Airbnb or short‑term rental properties.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or evenings when needed.
Further Information

Job start opportunity – working hours: standard hours up to 25 hours per week. Flexible or reduced hours may be available on approval by a Work Coach. Additional hours may be offered depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.

Salary: £7.55 per hour (ages 16‑17), £10.00 per hour (ages 18‑20), £12.21 per hour (ages 21+).
