Qualifications

  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and related systems.
  • Strong understanding of statutory and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to conduct planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.

Job description

37.5 Hours per week £15.88 to £19.33 per hour with Sodexo benefits £3,500 RRP payment per annum, which is £67.12 per week. Shifts are Monday to Friday. 27 Days holiday per year.

Location is Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9WL.

Join our skilled Air Conditioning Team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Using your specialist knowledge and experience, you will maintain and operate complex plant and control systems across the hospital, working both independently and as part of a team. You’ll ensure safety and compliance with health and safety policies, respond swiftly to emergencies, and prioritise workloads to safeguard staff and patients. If you're a proactive technician with a commitment to high standards, we want you on board.

What You’ll Do:
  • Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Chilled Water, and Fan Coil Systems in compliance with current HTMs and statutory requirements.
  • Perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including statutory, planned preventative, and testing activities.
  • Provide multi-skilled technical support for reactive, corrective, and preventative maintenance to meet project and site service needs.
  • Diagnose, service, test, repair, and calibrate advanced HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Offer technical advice to maintenance teams and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards and proper task execution.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies to ensure safety and service continuity, taking immediate corrective action when required.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of activities, including repair logs, reports, and verification records.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure service delivery aligns with project requirements and client expectations.
  • Manage inventory, request supplies, and ensure the availability of necessary equipment and parts for maintenance and repair tasks.
What You Bring:
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Chilled Water, and Fan Coil Systems.
  • Strong understanding of statutory and health and safety regulations, including HTMs and infection control policies.
  • Ability to carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, diagnostics, and calibration of complex HVAC equipment.
  • Skilled in diagnosing faults, troubleshooting, and providing effective repairs and calibrations to ensure system efficiency.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to provide technical advice and coordinate with team members, contractors, and clients.
  • Flexibility and capability to work independently or as part of a team, including emergency and afterhours response.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, safeguarding, confidentiality, and infection control policies.
  • Ability to prepare reports, activity logs, and documentation accurately and promptly.
  • A relevant qualification or certification in HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or a related field.
