8DB is the integrated barristers chambers within the DAC Beachcroft group, founded and developed by industry‑leading barristers to deliver an innovative in‑house advocacy and advisory solution.

Our aim is simple: to bring the services of the Bar directly to our clients.

Our team of barristers and advocates, centrally clerked, works with both Insurer and corporate clients to provide the advisory, drafting, and advocacy services they might otherwise instruct chambers for.

Our barristers have diverse expertise, collectively covering a wide range of practice areas, such as:

  • Personal Injury
  • Clinical Negligence
  • Occupational Health / Disease
  • Inquests & Regulatory
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Costs
  • Employment

This position is flexible on location and we welcome applications from candidates from the Midlands or North West England.

About the role

Are you looking for hands‑on experience in drafting, advocacy, and court work before pupillage?

Opportunities like this are rare. This role offers supervision and training from experienced barristers, direct client interaction, and daily exposure to courtroom advocacy - all within a supportive environment.

What You Will Do

  • Begin with a tailored training programme designed to build your knowledge of county court procedure, law, and litigation tactics.
  • Progress to a shadowing period, learning from experienced team members through:
  • Drafting and case preparation
  • Court attendance
  • Reporting and analysis of cases
  • Once signed off, you’ll take on a variety of drafting, advisory, and court work, all under supervision, with a strong support network to help you grow.

Your Development

  • Around three months in, you’ll be actively engaged in a broad range of work and familiar with the day‑to‑day responsibilities.
  • Subject to your rights of audience, you’ll have the opportunity to expand the complexity and scope of your work, developing your advocacy and litigation skills further.
Who you are

We are seeking someone who is pursuing a career at the Employed Bar - someone who sees their future in the cut and thrust of advocacy.

Essential Requirements:

  • Completed LLB (or equivalent) and BPTC (or equivalent)

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous advocacy experience (e.g., self‑employed agency roles)
  • Previous paralegal or litigation experience (particularly in one of our practice areas)
