Were looking for a confident and skilled Advocate to join our Legal Services team, providing expert representation and legal advice across a wide range of council services. This is a high‑profile role where your advocacy will directly shape outcomes in public hearings and enhance the Councils reputation.

What Youll Be Doing
  • Represent the Client in public hearings, delivering well‑prepared, persuasive advocacy that reflects professionalism and integrity.
  • Provide urgent legal advice and representation, particularly in cases involving homelessness and anti‑social behaviour, including out‑of‑hours support when needed.
  • Offer high‑quality legal guidance across departments, helping services navigate complex legal issues with clarity and confidence.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to junior legal staff, supporting their development and helping them reach their potential.
  • Contribute to working groups and strategic discussions across the Client, representing the Director of Legal Services.
  • Draft and present reports on sensitive and complex legal matters, ensuring decision‑makers have all the relevant information.
  • Attend and advise at Cabinet and Scrutiny meetings as required.
