A local public health authority is seeking an Advanced Public Health Practitioner to lead initiatives in preventing substance-related deaths. This role requires problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to enhance public health services. The practitioner will coordinate case reviews and partner with local agencies, ensuring a collaborative approach to tackle health inequalities and improve community wellbeing. The Public Health Department is a progressive multi-disciplinary department committed to improving health and tackling inequalities in West Sussex. Salary: £48,226 to £51,356 per annum
Working Pattern: Full time - 37 hours per week
Location: Based at County Hall, Chichester with hybrid working options
Contract type: Fixed Term until 01/10/2027.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Drug, Alcohol, and Inclusion Health Team, which supports key areas for the local authority, including drug and alcohol-related services, domestic abuse, and homelessness and complex needs. As an Advanced Public Health Practitioner, you will lead the workstream focused on preventing substance-related deaths. Your responsibilities will include:
You will play a key role in forging partnerships with and influencing key stakeholders and will support public health Leads to develop, and hold, the overview of implementation, monitoring and quality of key public health programmes. You will work with partners to ensure the programmes are aligned with the broader context and are visible as well as tailored to reduce health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing.
