Job description
Position

Vacancy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Radiotherapy Department currently has a vacancy for a Band 8A Advanced Practice Radiographer for Gynaecological and Lower GI Oncology. This is a part‑time post with working days Mon‑Weds and Friday. We are advertising as a Band 8A but may offer appointment as B8A annex 21; you would be paid at the relevant percentage post pending successful completion of appropriate competencies.

This role is ideal for anyone wishing to develop both personally and professionally in our busy and forward‑thinking radiotherapy department. You should have experience in a variety of treatment units and clinical areas and demonstrate leadership and management.

We currently have two Elekta linear accelerators, two Tomotherapy units and two Varian Trubeam units, with dedicated SRS platforms, all interfaced with Mosaiq in a paperless environment. In our remaining two bunkers, we are installing two new Varian linacs, expected to be clinical late summer 2026.

The pre‑treatment section comprises two Canon wide‑bore CT scanners linked to Raystation planning system.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist information, support and point of contact as well as assessment and review to patients during the treatment process.
  • Provide information and support to relatives and carers, instrumental in the patient’s on‑going care and holistic wellbeing.
  • Ensure that the patient pathway is run efficiently to ensure continuity of care, effective use of resources and that all cancer targets both locally and nationally are achieved.
  • Provide specialist knowledge to the Multi‑disciplinary Team (MDT) and Network as required.
  • Operate inter‑professionally between the MDT, medical physics, medical staff, radiographers and other allied health care professionals, advising and referring as necessary for each patient.
  • Provide specialist knowledge, skill and expertise to the department, MDT and Network as required.
  • Strive to enhance service delivery and service development by implementing best practice and evidence based practice.
Qualifications & Experience
  • HCPC registered.
  • Possess a BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Fully flexible with shift requirements, covering early and late shifts as appropriate.
  • Experience in a variety of treatment units, clinical areas and demonstrable leadership and management capabilities.
Immigration

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full‑time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full‑time permanent contract unless you have:

  • Applied for a Graduate visa.
  • Or have successfully completed your course and applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date.
  • Or the Trust has agreed to sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment.
