Overview

The post holder is identified as a clinical expert and is required to have a high clinical profile ensuring the provision of effective and efficient care. At this level the post holder is expected to work as a highly skilled practitioner and to have expert knowledge. The post holder will carry out clinical assessment, treatment, discharge planning or other inpatient ward referrals of surgical patients, within the parameters of their training and capability and in accordance with the requirements of Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB Surgical Directorate. The primary focus is to work as an advanced, autonomous practitioner providing patient-centred clinical care, encompassing assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment. The role aims to improve patient outcomes by improving timeliness and consistency of care.

Responsibilities
  • Exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and make critical judgments within a defined framework.
  • Operate at an advanced clinical level within their competence and work flexibly as part of a team.
  • Work seven days a week, including bank holidays and nights.
  • Act as a practice leader, managing their own workload and working across professional, organisational, agency and system boundaries to improve services and develop practice.
  • Participate in networks locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Assess and manage risk and proactively challenge others about risk.
Qualifications and language
  • Welsh Skills Desirable: Welsh language skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are an advantage but not essential.
  • Applicants who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals require sponsorship for Health and Care Visa or Skilled Worker Visa unless they have permission to work via another route.
  • Applicants should self-assess eligibility for sponsorship via UK Government guidance; Health and Care Visa offers reduced application costs and exemption from Immigration Health Surcharge where eligible.
