• Provide legal advice related to Court of Protection work.
• Draft court applications and engage with the Court.

Job description

Advising internal clients on all aspects of Adult Social Care.

• Providing legal advice to the council's Adult Social Care service with a focus on Court of Protection work as well as ancillary matters such as ordinary residence; responsibilities under the Care Act 2014; funding disputes; Mental Health Act 1986 queries.
• Drafting court applications to the Court of Protection / High Court / County Court.
• Instructing counsel in relation to any Court proceedings ensuing from the drafted court applications.
• Drafting court orders and liaising with the Court.
• Conducting professional's meetings (both round table and advocate meetings).
• Providing general adult social care and mental health legal advice.
• Such other duties and responsibilities of a similar grade and nature as may be required.
• To monitor changes in legislation and case law affecting the range of matters dealt with within the team and update other team members and clients.
