About the Role

Our Administrative Officers play a critical role, providing excellent administrative support and customer service to court users, judiciary and management.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the creation and management of County Court claims, accounting for Court fees, handling correspondence from Court users, and liaising with Judges regarding listing and hearing of cases.
  • Deal with enquiries from service users via post, email, telephone and face to face.
  • Work with types of claim including Possessions, Road Traffic Accidents, Insolvency, credit card debt, loan debt and hire purchase debt.
  • Be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or provide support to other functions within HMCTS.
Skills and Experience
  • Friendly and approachable manner with excellent attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to deliver proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email.
  • Ability to organize time, prioritise efficiently, multi-task and adapt to using various software packages.
  • Enjoy working in a busy environment and helping court users navigate the justice system.

Lead Criterion

Working Arrangements
  • These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public.
  • Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns where they meet role demands and business needs.
  • Part-time hours consideration: minimum 30 hours per week over 4 days.
  • Hybrid Working: some MoJ offices and home/remote arrangements; minimum 60% time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.
