Job description

This role serves to provide specialised administrative support in the Institute for Safe Autonomy (ISA), a research institute with a focus on the challenges of making robotics and connected autonomous systems safe, societally acceptable and resilient in the context of a changing world.

The role holder will have an in-depth understanding of the specific institute they support, working closely with its directors to facilitate and support strategic operations and research. A key aspect of this role is to act with a degree of independence, prioritising and managing a diverse range of administrative tasks. These tasks include general and specialised administration, strategic committee and governance support, research and event management, and both internal and external communications.

While aligned with a specific institute (ISA), this position is also part of a wider team of professional services staff (PSS) working across the research institutes but not part of a completely shared service. This requires flexibility to collaborate with and support other coordinators on various projects and events, and to provide administrative assistance to specialised staff in areas such as finance, communications, and business development as required. The role holder will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to multitask and prioritise to meet the dynamic needs of the research entities.

  • Experience of monitoring and managing budgets
