Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Dementia Support Worker and join our dedicated Nursing team on Ceiriog ward at Chirk Community Hospital.

This rewarding role will be to support Dementia patients during their stay in hospital. Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate care and compassion in providing support and care for patients. The role will be to plan and carry out social/recreational activities with individuals and or groups of inpatients / service users on the ward. The candidate will have experience of dementia care and will be keen to assist in developing the service for the future.

This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.

The successful applicant will be supported to develop skills and ensure care of an exceptional standard is delivered.

Responsibilities
  • Support Dementia patients during their stay in hospital, showing care and compassion in providing support and care for patients.
  • Plan and carry out social/recreational activities with individuals and/or groups of inpatients/service users on the ward.
  • Assist in developing the dementia care service for the future.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience of dementia care.
  • Excellent communication skills and high clinical standards.
  • Commitment and a positive approach towards change.
  • Full-time post at 37.5 hours per week.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
