About the Role

As a Principle Hardware Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality industrial control panels and systems across diverse projects—primarily within the food and beverage sector. Your work will drive tangible improvements for leading UK and international clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design industrial control panels, MCCs, and automation hardware to meet customer specifications and safety standards (IEC, UL, BS EN).

  • Create detailed schematics, block diagrams, general arrangements, and wiring schedules.

  • Produce accurate documentation, including equipment lists, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure seamless delivery.

  • Support procurement and resolve technical queries during assembly, installation, and commissioning.

  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Engage professionally with clients, suppliers, and colleagues to deliver solutions-focused outcomes.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in designing industrial control panels, MCCs, or automated hardware assemblies.

  • Proficiency with CAD packages and electrical schematic design.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards (BS EN 61439, IEC 60204, UL508A) and safe electrical practices.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, relays, safety devices, VSDs, HMIs, and related components.

  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree) or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a collaborative mindset.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in the food and beverage sector is advantageous.
