Job summary

A leading audit firm in Manchester is seeking an ambitious Audit Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of nonprofit clients. This role involves managing audit teams, building strong client relationships, and delivering high-quality audit services. The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in the nonprofit sector, along with strong technical auditing knowledge. A salary range of £32-35k is offered based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Qualified ACA, ICAS, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
  • Experience of audits in the nonprofit sector.

We are looking for an ambitious Audit Manager to join our award‑winning not‑for‑profit practice based in Manchester. You will manage a portfolio of charities, social housing providers and education providers, delivering high‑quality audit services to a high‑profile client base, including grant makers, independent schools and professional bodies.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of external audit clients, building and maintaining strong client relationships across a dynamic year‑round service.
  • Lead multiple audit teams, ensuring planned work is completed within the agreed budget and timelines from planning through to completion.
  • Act as the principal contact for clients throughout the year, delivering a proactive and client‑focused service.
  • Work to tight deadlines, independently time‑plan work and client appointments, and manage multiple tasks in an organised manner.
  • Prepare and present audit reports to senior management and Audit Committees/Boards.
  • Direct, coach and mentor audit teams to achieve high standards of engagement delivery.
  • Be proactive in business development, building and monitoring your own network and contributing to proposals and presentations for new work.
  • Potentially provide wider assurance services to clients, and participate in team and firm‑wide training opportunities.
Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
  • Experience of audits in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong people‑management skills, enabling support, coaching and mentoring of junior colleagues.
