Job description
KCR Solutions are delighted to be recruiting an Accountant to work within the Public Sector. You will be a fully qualified accountant with the ability to lead the organisation’s technical accounting function, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with statutory requirements. Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of the organisation’s annual Statement of Accounts in line with CIPFA Code of Practice and statutory regulations.
  • Manage the audit recovery process for prior years, liaising with external auditors to rebuild confidence in financial reporting.
  • Oversee the organisation’s financial systems, ensuring robust controls and reconciliations are in place to support strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise and develop the central finance team, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Deputise for the Head of Corporate Finance and provide strategic financial advice.
  • Manage treasury and banking operations to support organisation activities and mitigate financial risk.
  • Deliver technical accounting guidance and training to senior officers.
  • Foster collaboration with finance professionals to promote best practice.

Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting, audit liaison, and technical accounting.
  • Proven leadership in managing finance teams and complex financial processes.
  • Strong understanding of public sector finance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills at senior levels.
  • Proficient in financial systems development and control frameworks.
