Job summary

A community support organization in Belfast is seeking an Accommodation and Community Support Worker for its women's service. This role involves providing 24-hour support to clients, promoting their independence, and coordinating with external agencies. Ideal candidates are female with prior experience in supporting individuals with complex needs and must be NISCC registered or willing to become registered. Offering a permanent contract with a competitive salary.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure service users' needs are met and promote independence.
  • Provide advice and support to service users.
  • Assess service users' needs and risk levels.
  • Develop and monitor support plans and risk management.
  • Liaise with external agencies for coordinated services.
  • Advocate for clients, attending appeals or tribunals.

As part of a team provide effective 24-hour support to the clients accessing our services, i.e., hostels, family and remote support units.Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the needs of service users are effectively met through promoting independence through support, development and progression.
  • Provide support and advice to service users.
  • Undertake an assessment of a service users’ needs and risk to ascertain intervention level required.
  • Develop focused outcome-based support plans and risk management plans and monitor delivery.
  • Liaise with external agencies where appropriate, to ensure co-ordination and integration of services, and maximise opportunities.
  • Act as an advocate, providing support to and on behalf of clients; attend appeals or tribunals; liaise with GPs, other healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to demonstrate the core values of the Simon Community.
  • IT skills - ability to use email, internet and databases to electronically record support work.
  • NISCC Registered (or willing to become registered if appointed) and willing to be subject to Access NI checks. (Successful applicants must commence NISCC registration process prior to employment).
  • Due to the needs of the clients, only application from females will be considered
  • Six months’ recent experience (either paid or voluntary) of directly supporting people with complex and multiple needs within a residential or community setting gained within the last three years.
  • Experience of identifying support needs, including client specific risks and putting plans in place to support those needs.
  • A Degree in Social Work or currently studying for a Degree in Social Work.
