Job summary

An education recruitment agency is seeking a part-time Academic Mentor to support classes in South West London. Ideal candidates will have a UK Bachelor's degree or equivalent and experience with children or as Academic Mentors. Responsibilities include guiding lessons and promoting student behavior. Competitive rates of pay from £82.14 to £130 a day apply.

Academic Mentor

Location

An Academic Mentor is needed in a Mixed Secondary School & Sixth Form in South West London. The role is part‑time and short‑term in the first instance.

The School

An Ofsted‑rated 'Outstanding' Free School & Sixth Form located in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Opened in 2012, the school is fully subscribed with 800 places for pupils aged 11 to 18 years, built on the landmark site of a former hospital. The building preserves historic features while providing modernised learning facilities, including high‑quality classrooms, specialist RS, Music and Technology spaces, two courts, a sports hall and access to local outdoor facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting classes in the absence of teachers.
  • Promoting positive pupil behaviour and building a wholesome rapport with students.
  • Guiding pupils through planned lessons with resources provided.
  • Demonstrating effective use of basic ICT and carrying out general administrative tasks.
  • Using initiative to adapt to different situations and expressing a proactive approach to working as part of a team.

The rates of pay for this Academic Mentor role will be between £82.14 and £130 a day, depending on qualifications and experience.

Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Clear and up‑to‑date Enhanced DBS.
  • UK Bachelor’s Degree or overseas equivalent.
  • Experience working with children/teenagers/young adults or as an Academic Mentor in UK schools.
