Job description

We are looking for great people to join our Asset Performance Teams across the West Midlands.

You will take an active role in managing our flood risk assets within a geographical area. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook will help you find solutions to ensure our assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained and operated safely and efficiently to reduce flood risk to people and property.

Responsibilities
  • Manage flood risk assets within a designated geographical area.
  • Ensure assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained and operated safely and efficiently.
  • Accurately input and review data in the asset management information system.
  • Interact with stakeholders, including other risk management authorities, flood groups and local residents.
  • Travel to the office, local depots and flood defences across the area; a full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Assume an incident response role; full training will be provided.
The Team

Our team is responsible for thousands of flood risk assets ranging from large flood defence schemes and reservoirs through to small outfalls and flap valves. We perform an essential role in ensuring that people and property are protected from flooding by taking the right investment decision at the right time, based upon robust data. During a flood, we operate our assets to deliver the EA's strategic, tactical and operational response in partnership with other responders.

Qualifications
  • Confident communication and customer service skills, as you will be working with internal and external partners, as well as with members of the public.
  • Good planning and organisational skills; you’ll be able to demonstrate an ability to manage and interpret data and information.
  • Awareness of asset management.
  • Formal qualifications in civil engineering, asset management, data and information management are advantageous but not a requirement.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
