Job description

Are you a proactive person looking for a schedule that offers unique flexibility in Bristol?

We are looking for people to join our Bristol Women’s Pathway in the role of Night Concierge (women only).

Managed in partnership by St Mungos and Next Link Respite Rooms, this 12‑month pilot offers short‑stay, trauma‑informed accommodation for women with complex needs fleeing or at risk of domestic and gender‑based violence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a first point of contact and safeguarding to clients at night.
  • Deal with emergencies, undertake regular health and safety checks on patrols, and monitor the CCTV system.
  • Report incidents or maintenance issues and communicate any concerns or events to the rest of the team.
  • Act as a lone‑worker, with support available through an on‑call system ensuring guidance and assistance are always accessible when needed.

Typical schedule: A rolling night shift rota including weekends and bank holidays, usually around 9:00pm‑7:30am, with 3‑4 days off.

About you

This is an excellent role to learn about working in the charity sector. Many of our specialist workers and managers developed careers after starting in Night Concierge roles.

Experience is not mandatory, but some time working or volunteering in a similar environment and an understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable women with complex needs will be beneficial.

Qualifications and skills
  • Good communication and basic IT skills with the ability to keep records and follow procedures.
  • Ability to stay alert and awake during your shift and work independently.
  • Initiative and capacity to remain calm and identify appropriate actions in various situations.
  • Positive and friendly interaction with clients throughout the night, and a passion for supporting vulnerable women.
  • For posts in our Women’s Service, we require the appointment of a female only for these posts (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).
