We are currently looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to support one of our clients at the on‑site location Newcastle Helix, Draymans Way, Newcastle Upon Tyne. This is a full‑time position working a 37.5‑hour week Monday – Friday. The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach as overtime and on‑call duties may be required. Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.

Working on a secure single‑person location with End User Compute support, with the wider support team on sister locations throughout the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Desktop / Laptop / VDI build, configuration and deployment to end users
  • Software installation / deployment; asset and peripheral deployments
  • In‑depth investigation into issues to pass back to 3rd line support
  • Assisting the 2nd Line support team with laptop, desktop and VDI terminals support calls
  • Hardware installation, upgrade, and break‑fix for desktop, laptop and server
  • Smartphone support (Android & iOS)
  • VIP support
  • Service Desk cover as required
  • Assisting with customer projects
  • Microsoft Windows 7 and 10 operating systems – deployment, configuration
  • Support Microsoft Office 2010 onwards
Qualifications
  • Proven and demonstrable software and hardware troubleshooting skills, experience in a Deskside Support role
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS / application deployment
  • Good verbal communication – ability to communicate to all levels
  • Microsoft Windows 7/10 training and certification
  • Understanding of SCCM
