  • Deliver and collect food trolley; sometimes use electric tug.
  • Maintain PIN phone logs and requests.
  • Understand national/local policies; respond to incidents.

Travel & Transport

Prison estates are in rural areas; a driving licence & own transport helpful but not essential unless specified.

Shift & Timing

Shift start and finish times are fixed. You must arrive punctually.

Responsibilities
  • Gate duties – secure entry and exit of staff, visitors, vehicles; conduct searches.
  • Patrol perimeter fence areas; watch for suspicious activity.
  • Control room – operate prison radio system; monitor CCTV.
  • Visitor reception – welcome visitors; escort if needed.
  • Mail – monitor & log incoming mail; report contraband.
  • Night duties – lock cell doors; ensure prisoners accounted for.
  • Reception – photograph prisoners; process property and parcels.
  • Prisoner supervision – supervise prisoners; exchange clothing and property; escort with officers.
  • Food delivery – deliver and collect food trolley; sometimes use electric tug.
  • Driving duties – collect mail from sorting office; may lift heavy sacks.
  • Phone calls – maintain PIN phone logs and requests.
  • Procedures – understand national/local policies; respond to incidents and emergencies.
Qualifications & Skills
