Job Overview

We are seeking a confident, caring and organised person to join our team in the role of Lunchtime First Aider. This is a training vacancy and there is no guarantee of a substantive position when the training has ended.

In this role you will assess the first‑aid needs of pupils (and staff and/or visitors as needed) and administer frontline First Aid. You will also maintain relevant records and reports in line with school policy, and may incorporate a variety of Midday Supervisor duties such as supervising the dining hall, wiping tables, cleaning away plates, encouraging children to eat their lunch and supervising pupils in the playground and/or classrooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess first‑aid needs and administer frontline First Aid to pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate first‑aid records and reports in accordance with school policy.
  • Perform additional duties during lunchtime, including supervising the dining hall, cleaning, and encouraging pupils to eat.
  • Link with staff and communicate effectively about health and safety matters.
Recruitment Process & Additional Information
  • Attending in‑person interview for all interview tasks.
  • Interviews will be arranged once applications have been shortlisted.
  • Pre‑employment checks will include internet searches as part of the KCSIE 2025 guidelines.
  • Registration with the Federation exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; all employees are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and other safeguards.
  • We will not sponsor a certificate of sponsorship/visa and are unable to advise on these matters.

Candidate Requirements
  • At least five GCSEs Grades 9-4/A to C, including English and mathematics.
  • Current First Aid at Work and/or Paediatric First Aid qualification (eligible to renew within a specified timeframe if lapsed).
  • Experience delivering first‑aid at work and/or paediatric first aid.
  • Positive, sensitive attitude, patience with children, calm under pressure, and ability to liaise positively with staff and pupils.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards and ensuring all children make good progress through a stimulating, safe, secure and nurturing environment.
Employment Details

12.5 hours per week, 11.30am‑2.00pm, Mondays to Fridays, term time only (38 weeks). Salary £8,212–£8,688 with an annual First Aid Allowance.
