A leading research institute in plant sciences in France is seeking a Postdoc researcher to work on genome assembly and gene annotation. The successful candidate will have a PhD and experience in molecular evolution analysis, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. This full-time position offers a start date in January 2026 and is funded through the EU Research Framework Programme.

Qualifications

  • Experience in genome assembly of plants, particularly beans.
  • Knowledge of gene annotation, especially for NLR class resistance genes.
  • Strong background in molecular evolution.

Responsabilités

  • Assemble bean genomes using sequencing technologies.
  • Annotate genes and perform analysis on molecular evolution.
  • Collaborate with team members in the project.

Offer Description

You will be welcomed into the GDYNPATH team at the Paris Saclay Plant Sciences Institute (IPS2). The IPS2, located in building 630 on the Saclay campus, has a staff of 180, including 107 permanent employees (30% CNRS, 30% INRAE, 30% UPSaclay and 10% other universities).
Research at IPS2 focuses on analysing the growth and development of model plants and transferring the results of this research to cultivated species, agriculture and innovation.

You will be specifically responsible for:

  • Assembling bean genomes (wild and cultivated), sequenced in PacBio Revio and ONT
  • Annotating genes, particularly the NLR class, which is the predominant class of resistance genes in plants
  • Analysing molecular evolution
  • Establishing PanNLRome

You will work in collaboration with a research technician and the various members of the project team (lecturers and researchers).
