About ENGIE and Supply & Energy Management

ENGIE, a global leader in low‑carbon energy and services, relies on its Global Business Unit Supply & Energy Management (GBU S&EM) to provide reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy to all its customers. This strategic unit optimises the Group's and clients' production assets and designs tailored energy solutions for our 200,000 professional clients and 15 million consumers.

The Global Business Unit Supply & Energy Management leverages ENGIE's assets to deliver secure and sustainable energy to its B2B and B2C customers. It uses its expertise in energy management to provide decarbonised electricity 24/7.

Context

Market Analysis is a centre of expertise within GBU S&EM dedicated to analysing energy markets. Integrated into the operational Energy Management division, its mission is to enhance the understanding of market dynamics and inform the Group's strategic decisions in the context of an accelerated energy transition. The team combines strong expertise in energy modelling, economic analysis, and foresight, covering all energy vectors—electricity, natural gas, LNG, biomethane, hydrogen, e‑fuels, etc.—across short to long‑term horizons (up to 2050). Its work supports both ENGIE's operational needs (price forecasts, supply‑demand balance, asset valuation) and strategic reflections on transition scenarios, regulation, or market design.

Our team works for the ENGIE Group and its entities worldwide, conducting economic and strategic studies to help these entities better understand and manage their strategic and operational challenges. The studies cover a wide range of topics related to the energy transition and decarbonization: energy market fundamentals, studies on future energy trends (green gases, CCUS, biomass, decentralised production), business models for green gases (biomethane, hydrogen), energy demand projections, defining the Group's climate ambitions, etc. These studies draw on a broad range of skills: economic modelling, scenario analysis, operational optimisation, data analysis and statistics, etc.

Your Mission

The Market Analyst will be an integral part of the Energy Demand Forecast team, within the Market Analysis division. As part of its strategic advisory activities for the ENGIE Group and for public institutions (such as the European Commission), the Market Analysis team has developed recognised expertise in modelling and projecting energy demands—electricity, hydrogen, methane, biomass, etc.

These analyses aim to quantify the impacts of the energy transition on the evolution of energy uses and needs at the European level.

The work follows in the footsteps of prospective exercises conducted by RTE (Futurs Énergétiques 2050) or by ADEME (Transitions 2050), which involve building several energy transition scenarios for the 2050 horizon. To produce similar analyses for its clients, ENGIE has developed a range of tools and models integrated into an internal macro‑model.

Examples of potential tasks
  • Contribute to the development of prospective energy transition scenarios at the European level, in support of the ENGIE Group's strategy.
  • Support the development of our long‑term energy demand model (AMADEUS).
  • Participate to dedicated strategic studies for a large range of BU inside the ENGIE Group (B2C, B2B, NGBU, etc.).
What we are looking for
Hard skill
  • Python and GitHub proficiency (mandatory).
  • Experience in developing tools for collecting, processing, and analysing market data.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the energy field.
  • First experience in energy modelling, especially in bottom‑demand modelling is recommended.
Soft skill
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to explain and convey messages about complex issues.
  • Ability to work in a multi‑cultural environment.
Education & Experience
  • Master's Degree or PhD in a relevant area (engineering, mathematics, physics, etc.).
Languages
  • English and French: Fluent.
