Job Summary
One of our prominent clients is looking for a Survey Manager to oversee planning, execution, and management of the data acquisition phase for hydrographic, geophysical, and geotechnical surveys. The role involves coordinating survey projects, managing a team of marine scientists, ensuring data quality, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maximizing vessel utilisation while minimising standby.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee the execution of surveys (hydrographic, geophysical, and geotechnical campaigns).
- Monitor acquisition progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Marine Scientists.
- Work closely with the Heads of Geophysical/Geotechnical Operations to prepare acquisition campaigns.
- Provide regular updates on project status, deliverables, and any issues that may arise.
- Troubleshoot - Provide technical guidance and support to team members on complex survey issues.
- May act as Party Chief when circumstances require it.
- In charge of vessel and equipment selection assisted by the Heads of Geophysical/Geotechnical Operations.
- In charge of operational survey documentation (Project Execution Plan, HIRA, etc).
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey data.
- Develop and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all survey operations comply with safety regulations and best practices.
- Promote a culture of safety within the team and provide safety training as needed.
- Report and investigate any incidents, accidents, or near-misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Lead the vessel mobilisation jointly with the Party Chief.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Candidate Profile
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in geoscience disciplines.
- 10 years of offshore experience including Party Chief roles for hydrographic campaigns.
- Proficiency with MS Office, QGIS, Qinsy, EIVA Navisuite software, gINT, Kingdom.
- English mandatory (100%); Spanish desired, French is a plus.
- Technical knowledge of MBES, SSS, SBP, MAG, and UHRS surveys (acquisition + processing) and geotechnical equipment.
