The Role

As a Senior Cobol Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our Cobol applications. You will collaborate with a team of engineers and developers across our infrastructure. A strong commitment to collaborative problem-solving, sophisticated design, and high-quality product delivery is essential.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain scalable global Cobol applications supporting our product offerings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and enhance features.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in software development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing applications to ensure optimal performance.
• Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on industry trends and technologies.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of proven proficiency in COBOL programming (COBOL-85), with the ability to write, modify, and maintain batch and online COBOL programs.
• Experience supporting production systems by troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues in COBOL programs using debugging tools (e.g., Xpediter, Abend-AID).
• Nice to have: Experience with MicroFocus Net Express 3, Microsoft Visual Basic, C language.
• Prior experience with Agile methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools and workflows.
• Understanding of Domain-Driven Design and Microservice architectures.
• Experience with SQL Server, NoSQL, and/or Oracle databases.
• API design experience.
• Strong knowledge of Business-Driven Design and Test-Driven Development.
• Experience developing middleware applications using modern technologies with relational and non-relational databases, including cloud-hosted applications.
• Performance engineering skills and ability to educate teams on non-functional requirements for web-scale applications.
• Middleware and security experience, including fixing vulnerabilities.
• A strong background in the PaaS space is preferred.
