Job Description

About the job:

The West Europe Marketing Science team is a specialist business unit providing consulting and advanced statistics across the NIQ SA&I portfolio. We act as consultants for statistical and technical advice, contribute to client proposals, and support research teams in designing and executing client projects.

Reporting to the head of the Brand & Media Marketing Science team, your strong background in statistics and/or data science will enable you to manage complex analytic projects. You will contribute to discussions with clients and researchers, recommending appropriate methodologies to design analytic and research programs addressing marketing and business problems. Good communication skills are essential for presenting analyses to researchers and clients regularly.

We seek someone experienced in applying diverse advanced analytics to survey research and other data sources, with excellent knowledge of Regression (Logistic, Linear, Non-linear), Factor analysis, Mapping, and familiarity with Bayesian Networks, econometric modeling, segmentation, data integration, and marketing mix modeling.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, creative, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality analytics projects meeting internal and client requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging statistical analysis techniques.
  • Manage own workload and project responsibilities effectively.
  • Understand quantitative research techniques to propose appropriate solutions convincingly.
  • Recognize the capabilities and limitations of techniques and software.
  • Promote new techniques and stay updated with external developments.
  • Ensure all documents are of high quality.
  • Represent GfK’s Marketing Science expertise at conferences and workshops.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field emphasizing modeling, statistical, or mathematical skills (PhD is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in a market research agency.
  • Expertise in modeling and statistical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of econometric techniques including survey statistics, Bayesian statistics, program evaluation, forecasting, economic theory, panel data, and causal inference methods.
  • Interest and experience in pricing research, brand management, digital behavioral analysis, segmentation, media effectiveness, etc.
  • Proficiency in analytics programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and tools (e.g., R-Studio, Spyder, Jupyter, POSIT Workbench).
  • Ability to visualize and communicate data analysis results effectively, addressing real-world business problems.

Desirable:

  • Experience sourcing open data (e.g., Google Trends, Social Mentions).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Basic knowledge of Data Science, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Basic SQL skills for working with relational databases.
  • Basic programming in VBA.
