You will manage compliance deadlines for legal entities in Portugal, preparing financial statements under Portuguese GAAP and US GAAP. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience, is fluent in English and Portuguese, and holds a Certified Accountant certification. Overview

Accountant Contabilista Certificado Portugal - Based in Barcelona. The job holder is a member of the European Financial Accounting team in the Air Products Shared Service Center in Cornella (Barcelona, Spain) and will be responsible for all key compliance deadlines of the Air Products legal entities in Portugal. As an Accountant - Contabilista for Portugal, you will do: Timely and accurate data preparation on Portuguese GAAP basis for external reporting to Tax Authorities, Auditors, Statistical Office. Additionally, you will work on the timely monthly reporting for US GAAP in accordance with the Company’s Month-end Closing schedule. The preparation of the local GAAP Statutory Accounts for the Air Products legal entities in a timely manner which includes the preparation of working papers and related schedules for the Statutory year-end audit process of the Statutory Financial statements with the objective to obtain a clean sign-off audit opinion by the Statutory year-end auditors.

• Contabilista Certificado Portugal based in Barcelona
• The job holder is a member of the European Financial Accounting team in the Air Products Shared Service Center in Cornella (Barcelona, Spain) and the job holder will be responsible for all key compliance deadlines of the Air Products legal entities in Portugal
• Balance sheet reconciliations (Consolidação de Balancetes) on a monthly/quarterly basis in line with company policy
• Set priorities and work plan under the supervision of the Team Leader within the Finance accounting group and corporate deadlines

Responsibilities

• Timely and accurate data preparation on Portuguese GAAP basis for external reporting to Tax Authorities, Auditors, Statistical Office
• Timely monthly reporting for US GAAP in accordance with the Company’s Month-end Closing schedule
• Preparation of local GAAP Statutory Accounts for the Air Products legal entities, including working papers and schedules for the Statutory year-end audit
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure they are completed and filed correctly
• Coordinate with peers and other functional areas as needed to complete reconciliations

Qualifications

• Certified Portuguese accountant: Contabilista Certificado com registo na "Ordem dos Contabilistas", working as Técnico Oficial de Contas (TOC)
• 3-5 years working experience in the preparation of annual Portuguese GAAP financial statements and annual accounts, in accordance with IFRS
• Basic Tax knowledge about Portuguese Corporate Tax Returns and specific local taxes
• Ability to communicate effectively in a large multi-disciplined environment
• Fluent in English and Portuguese; Spanish would be an advantage
• Nice to have: US GAAP knowledge and experience in Spain; SAP experience
