The Scope
We are looking for an engaged Policy Manager who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.
Drive global sustainability by shaping an impactful normative framework that ensures responsible forest product sourcing. We are seeking someone with experience in the implementation/development of certification standards and with a good understanding of supply chains. Are you able to address and explain complex technical matters related to FSC certification in the area of Chain of Custody (material flow) and Controlled Wood (due diligence systems)? If so, we invite you to join our dynamic team at FSC based in Bonn, Germany, as a Policy Manager.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage the development, review, and revision of normative FSC documents, including:
- Reviewing and drafting normative documents.
- Coordinating and facilitating working groups and other technical meetings.
- Manage communication, guidance, and training materials targeting relevant FSC stakeholders (e.g., Certification Bodies, Certificate Holders, FSC Network Partners, FSC members).
- Manage project development and administration, including conceptualizing and coordinating pilot projects, and feasibility and impact studies.
- Represent FSC externally on technical and other fora.
Your profile
- University degree or equivalent training or experience in a relevant field (e.g., forestry, wood technology) or equivalent.
- Training in FSC certification, project management, communications, and/or auditing are assets.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following: multi-stakeholder standards development processes; the forest sector; certification and auditing, corporate environmental responsibility programs, supply chain management, due diligence systems.
- Experience in writing, reviewing, revising, and/or editing technical documents.
- Proven ability to plan and organize work (e.g., by relevant project involvement).
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Spanish and/or French are a plus.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics to non-knowledgeable audiences.
- Content Management Systems is a plus.

The Fine Print
- Location: Bonn, Germany.
- Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
- Employment Duration: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to performance).
