Electrical engineer for technical systems

The electronics group at DESY Zeuthen develops and supports specialized electronics for experiments in accelerator, astroparticle, and particle physics. These electronics control telescopes and other research infrastructure, and record and process data for experiments worldwide, such as the CTA project and the Photoinjector Test Stand (PITZ) in Zeuthen.

About Your Role
  • Participation in the development and commissioning of complex electronic systems and large-scale facilities for the CTA MST project and astroparticle physics
  • Installation, commissioning, and support of CTA MST telescopes on site in Chile and La Palma
  • Technical support of research infrastructure for CTA and DESY
  • Documentation of complex electronic systems with EPLAN
  • Documentation, publication, and presentation of work results
About You
  • Completed scientific university degree in electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent with specialized knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Sound expertise in automation technology, control engineering, and electromechanics
  • Experience in programming SPS/PLCs and working with ECAD systems (EPLAN)
  • Willingness to travel to installation sites of large-scale scientific facilities of the CTA project
  • Expertise and experience in air conditioning technology are advantageous
  • Ability to work in a team in an international environment with external project partners
  • Very good written and spoken English and German; knowledge of Spanish is an advantage
