As a Clinical Pathologist, your primary duties include providing clients with diagnostic evaluations in clinical pathology and offering follow-up consultations. Emphasis is placed on quality, timeliness, customer service, and effective communication skills.

In This Role :

  • You are responsible for gross and/or microscopic examination of clinical pathology specimens and preparing pathology reports promptly.
  • You will meet caseload and turnaround time expectations.
  • You are responsible for providing telephone consultations to clients.
  • You will collaborate with and assist other pathologists to promote collegiality.
  • You partner with laboratory personnel, advising on specimen processing techniques, and serve as the on-duty pathologist.
  • You promote IDEXX's growth by participating in pathologist meetings and maintaining professional relationships with clients.
  • You participate in quality control programs.
  • You maintain and develop diagnostic skills through ongoing education.
  • Time may be allocated away from routine diagnostic duties to engage in other professional activities approved by management, aimed at enhancing IDEXX's functions or reputation.

What You Will Need to Succeed :

  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are familiar with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine.
  • You can type and use dictation equipment effectively.
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You have a service-oriented attitude.
  • You can organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS :

  • Board certification in clinical pathology—European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) or American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP)—is preferred.
  • Applications from board-eligible pathologists are encouraged; support for board studies will be provided.
