As the Vice President Innovation and Technology Transformation, you will lead the global Advanced Technology division, overseeing the strategic direction, portfolio, and innovation processes. Your role will focus on creating and executing a forward-thinking innovation strategy, ensuring the development of breakthrough technologies. You will drive initiatives in Horizon 2 and Horizon 3 projects, tackling complex challenges like decarbonization and energy efficiency. We´re not specifically looking for someone who is rooted in tech or engineering – you´ll have those people in your diverse and global team – we´re rather looking for someone ensuring that high-impact innovations are rapidly validated and brought to market. You will work closely with senior leadership and business units to ensure alignment and execution of the innovation strategy.

Your responsibilities in detail:

Strategy & Portfolio
  • Set and implement a clear vision and strategy for Advanced Technology aligned with the company’s vision, and Business Unit (BU) strategic goals.
  • Define and manage a balanced innovation portfolio (core, adjacent, and transformational “Big Bets / Moonshots”) with explicit value targets.
  • Continuously scan technology, market, regulatory, and customer trends and translate them into strategic opportunity theses and roadmaps.
  • Drive high-quality front-end innovation: from opportunity framing and concept creation to early technical and commercial validation, ensuring a strong pipeline of Big Bets and core innovations.
Innovation Management
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve a structured innovation funnel with clear entry criteria, deliverables, and decision points.
  • Promote and embed agile and lean innovation methodologies (experimentation, rapid prototyping, customer validation, GVP) to manage uncertainty and accelerate learning.
  • Continuously improve innovation workflows, tools, and processes with AI and advanced analytics.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-enabled productivity tools across Advanced Technology to increase innovation throughput and quality. Aspire to reach 10X gains.
Governance
  • Establish and lead robust governance mechanisms to prioritize and select opportunities across the portfolio. Allocate funding and key resources. Make transparent go/kill/redirect decisions at each stage of the funnel.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular project and portfolio reviews, ensuring clear milestone definitions and decision criteria. Early identification and resolution of issues, risks, and interdependencies.
  • Define and deploy performance metrics (OKRs, KPIs) that connect innovation activities to tangible business and strategic outcomes, such as: new business volume, NPV, contribution to strategic growth pillars and funnel health and time-to-validation (GVP).
  • Implement data- and AI-driven dashboards and analytics to monitor portfolio performance, learning velocity, and resource utilization, and to systematically improve innovation impact over time.
Organization, Capabilities & Culture
  • Ensure Advanced Technology’s technological and human resources meet the company’s short- and long-term innovation needs, including in emerging domains.
  • Develop and nurture critical capabilities.
  • Continuously evolve an adaptive organizational set-up, team structures, and individual skill sets to respond to changing strategic priorities and market dynamics.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to Directors and Managers and a visible role model for curiosity, courage, experimentation and evidence-based decision-making.
Ecosystem & Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain innovation ecosystems with external specialists, universities, research institutes, customers, partners, suppliers, start-ups, and relevant ecosystem players.
  • Ensure strong customer focus for innovation by building and managing relationships with key sales groups and BU leaders.
  • Maintain continuous alignment and collaboration with other TE departments (Corporate Ventures, Digital Ventures, Digital Hubs, i2m, etc.) to ensure a coherent overall technology and innovation agenda.
  • Proactively communicate Advanced Technology’s innovation portfolio, Big Bets, and impact to BUs, enabling functions, and key stakeholders to promote collaboration, alignment, and pull for new solutions.
