Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional scientist to join our T1 / 17 Immunology team as Translational T1 / 17 Immunology Lead. You will become part of an international, highly collaborative team with a strong passion for developing medicines that make a real difference in patients' lives. Our team advances our understanding of type 1 / 17 driven diseases across therapeutic areas including Dermatology, Gastroenterology, and Rheumatology. The successful candidate will contribute cross‑functionally to our research portfolio in the Immunology and Inflammation Therapeutic Area at Sanofi, with a focus on translating scientific discoveries into potential therapies. This position will be instrumental in advancing our research pipeline, consolidating our leadership in immunology across therapeutic areas, and driving innovative collaborations with academic and industry partners.

Main responsibilities
  • Oversee translational immunology projects and lead cross-functional teams from target identification through preclinical development, focused on type 1 / 17 driven inflammatory diseases.
  • Develop and implement innovative translational research strategies to advance our understanding of immunological mechanisms in diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases and hidradenitis suppurativa, aiming to identify and validate new therapeutic targets and support progression of cluster portfolio.
  • Coordinate and integrate disease model expertise across in‑silico, in‑vitro, ex‑vivo, and in‑vivo platforms to differentiate mechanisms early in a disease portfolio.
  • Constantly innovate new methodologies and models, leveraging strong computational expertise to analyze and interpret complex data sets, including multi‑omics, scRNA‑seq, CROP‑seq, microbiome and spatial technologies.
  • Evaluate, establish, and lead strategic collaborations with key academic institutes and biotech companies to enhance our research capabilities and pipeline.
  • Represent translational immunology research in internal and external scientific forums, conferences, and collaborations; drive the integration of precision medicine approaches in immunology research.
  • Mentor and develop junior scientists, fostering a culture of creative teamwork, scientific excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Manage research budgets, resources, and timelines effectively across multiple projects and collaborations.
About you
  • Ph.D. in Immunology or a closely related field, with a strong focus on type 1 / 17 driven inflammatory diseases.
  • At least 15 years of project leadership experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a track record of successfully advancing drug discovery projects across modalities from therapeutic hypothesis to clinical proof‑of‑concept and portfolio management.
  • Extensive experience in pre‑clinical to clinical forward and back translation in immunological diseases, with demonstrated expertise in coordinating and applying in‑vitro, in‑ex‑vivo, and in‑silico assays and models; strong publication or patent record.
  • Strong precision medicine capabilities and computational proficiency to analyze multi‑omics data sets.
  • Ability to inspire, guide, and manage diverse teams of researchers and collaborators; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic and agile mindset, with ability to deliver under pressure at high visibility.
  • Familiarity with state‑of‑the‑art methodology such as scRNA‑seq, CROP‑seq, organoids, multi‑omics, and spatial omics technologies.
  • Knowledge of German is a plus.
