Supply Chain Manager with Trade Compliance Responsibility

Location: Friedberg
Reports To: Plant Manager

Overview

As a Supply Chain Manager with additional responsibility for Trade Compliance, you will be responsible for the efficient coordination and management of all supply chain processes, including inventory management, logistics, shipping, and procurement, ensuring timely global deliveries of our products. You will play a key role in the global supply chain and ensure compliance with international trade and customs regulations. Additionally, the departments of logistics/shipping and procurement will report directly to you, placing you at the center of managing and optimizing the entire supply chain. Fluency in both English and German is mandatory.

Your Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for planning, coordinating, and optimizing supply chain processes along the entire value stream.
  • Leading the logistics/shipping and procurement departments to ensure efficient and flexible management of the entire supply chain.
  • Ensuring efficient inventory management for both raw materials and finished products, considering the requirements across all value streams.
  • Monitoring and analyzing inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  • Developing and implementing best practices to improve logistics processes (air freight, sea freight, land transport).
  • Collaborating with internal departments (production, sales) and external partners (forwarders, suppliers, warehouses) to maximize supply chain efficiency and flexibility.
  • Identifying and implementing measures to optimize costs and minimize risks within the supply chain.
  • Ensuring compliance with international trade and customs regulations (e.g., export and import rules, dual‑use goods, etc.).
  • Advising and training internal stakeholders on relevant regulations and requirements for export and import operations.
  • Overseeing documentation and customs clearance (preparation and review of certificates of origin, customs declarations, export documents).
  • Close cooperation with customs authorities, forwarders, and international partners to ensure compliance with cross‑border shipments.
  • Monitoring the implementation and adherence to internal compliance policies and processes in the global supply chain.
  • Conducting regular audits and risk analyses in the field of customs and export regulations.
Reporting and Analysis
  • Regularly preparing reports and analyses on supply chain and trade compliance performance and potential areas for improvement.
  • Identifying risks and bottlenecks in the supply chain and developing corresponding solutions.
  • Supporting management in the strategic development of supply chain and compliance strategies.
Your Profile
  • Degree in logistics, business administration, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of professional experience in supply chain management, preferably in an international industrial company.
  • Experience in customs and export handling and a solid understanding of international trade regulations.
  • In‑depth knowledge of inventory optimization and coordination in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with air freight, sea freight, and other international transportation methods.
  • Strong analytical skills and a solution‑oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills in both German and English (written and spoken).
  • Team‑oriented and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with common supply chain management systems (e.g., SAP, ERP) and customs software.
