Your role

As a Solution Development Manager Automation GI (m/w/d), your mission is to design, adapt, and implement automation concepts that cater directly to the diverse needs of our General Industry customers.

You will drive the automation solution side, transforming our strategy into layouts, concepts as modular building blocks, and agile customer requests into clear and feasible offers. You will collaborate closely with the BDM, our Automation Innovation Center, and global Product Management to ensure that our automation roadmap aligns with customer value and solution scalability.

You are hands-on, driven by clarity and action, and comfortable innovating while flying. You enjoy simplifying technical complexity and seeing your ideas take shape on the shop floor.

A certain willingness to travel is required, as you will work closely with international teams and customer centers.

You will report to the Global Business Manager Automation.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Create and adapt automation tightening cell concepts for GI applications.
  2. Translate customer needs into time-efficient, budget-level offers and scalable solution concepts.
  3. Collaborate closely with the BDM GI and Product Managers to align GI-specific requirements with the automation roadmap.
  4. Use tools like Visual Components to visualize and validate concepts, feasibility, and process flow.
  5. Support customer centers as a technical enabler and sparring partner in an agile way.
  6. Reuse and modify existing automation modules for new use cases.
  7. Guide the transformation from manual to automated assembly processes, in close contact with local teams.
  8. Lead internal discussions around technical feasibility, design direction, and solution readiness.
  9. Coordinate across Product Management, R&D, Application Centers, and CCs globally.

Qualifications needed:

  • At least 5 years of experience in automation design, solution development, or project engineering.
  • Strong technical background and ability to structure end-to-end automation solutions.
  • Proficiency in 3D layouting tools (Visual Components, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Engineering degree or equivalent in Automation, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Solid understanding of industrial manufacturing and assembly transformation.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.
  • Self-motivation, resilience, and drive to make things move.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to align diverse stakeholders.

What we offer:

  • Permanent employment with an attractive compensation package, including a competitive salary, internet allowance, company pension scheme, and capital-forming benefits.
  • Flexible working models for work-life balance, including flexible hours, remote work, occasional global visits, 30 vacation days, and personal leave.
  • Access to cutting-edge technology, development opportunities, internal academy, LinkedIn Learning, and international career paths.
  • Room to grow, flat hierarchies, varied responsibilities, and a modern work environment.
  • Strong team spirit, structured onboarding, knowledge sharing, and regular events.
  • Health and sustainability programs, including corporate health management and environmental responsibility initiatives.
  • Attractive employee benefits such as leasing options, discounts, free parking, and office perks.
