Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented and experienced Software Engineer to help us in our mission by developing Hardware-in-the-Loop platforms for our Future Projects. You will be part of the Future Systems team, reporting to the Principal Engineer of the project and working closely with the other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Software Engineer - HiL, your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day-to-day duties will include:

• • Defining and refining the architecture of HiL platforms to ensure optimal performance and scalability, focusing on software aspects such as Test Supervisors, Real-Time Simulation Frameworks, Databases and interfaces with the Front-Ends

  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate software tools and frameworks for the platforms

  • Performing make-or-buy analyses; collaborating with external partners or vendors to request, evaluate, and integrate software solutions

  • Developing software tools and scripts to interface the various components of the HiL (Test Supervisor, Real-Time Simulator, Front-Ends, etc.) and to automatize platform set-up, test runs and test exploitations

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure alignment with project objectives and seamless integration of the HiL platform with other subsystems

• Driving continuous improvement to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of HiL platforms

• Providing support for troubleshooting and resolving integration issues

What we would love to see from you

In the role as Software Engineer - HiL ideally, you will have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field

• 5+ years of experience in designing and operating HiL platforms for aerospace applications

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and MATLAB

• Familiarity with communication protocols and interfaces used in aerospace systems

• Knowledge of automation tools and scripting for test execution and data analysis
